Program
The Gender Identity Service at CAMH works with children and adolescents, aged three to 18, who have concerns with their gender identity. Gender identity refers to a person’s basic sense of self as a male or a female. Some children and adolescents are unhappy being a boy or a girl. When this happens, it is called gender dysphoria. The service helps children, adolescents and families better understand a young person’s struggle with gender identity development and related behavioural or emotional problems. We also assess adolescents who are concerned about being sexually aroused by crossdressing. People anywhere in Canada are eligible to be seen.
