crisis-services-hotlines

A peer support phone service run by trans people and non-binary people for people who are trans, non-binary or questioning. People do not need to be in crisis to call the hotline. The hotline is anonymous and confidential and has a policy against non-consensual active rescue (this means they will not call 911, emergency services, or law enforcement without the caller"s explicit request).

Provides travel support to clients who need help attending appointments. This can come in the form of bus tickets, taxi chits, shuttle buses, gas cards, and help with hotel accommodations if traveling more than 100km. Staff are available to attend appointments and blood work with clients to provide emotional support and help navigate the health care system.

Youth Addictions

Provides Counselling and Therapy for military personnel, veterans, couples, families, adolescents, kids, and adults. Our Psychiatrist has extensive knowledge to primarily treat patients suffering from ADHD and PTSD. We also have a team of Psychologists to provide council and support for anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and learning disabilities. We have locations in Halifax, Kentville, New Minas, and Greenwood.

Peer support group for Two-spirit, Trans and Non-binary people struggling with concerns related to food, body image, and/or gender dysphoria. Discussions include strategies for self-compassion, unlearning gender binaries, self-care, and other concerns through a specifically trans lens. This group has 2 peer mentor facilitators who identify as Trans and Non-binary.

Offers free telephone counselling sessions for Nova Scotians of African Ancestry. They can help with grief, relationship issues, anxiety, and situational crisis. Offered in partnership with the Nova Scotia Association of Black Social Workers. Please note: Service is not for emergency situations and they do not offer medication reviews, diagnosis, or referrals to formal mental health services
