Mental Health Counselling

Offers support to women experiencing abuse or domestic violence who are not accessing shelter services. Services and support include in-person or telephone counselling, referrals and advocacy to community, legal, and mental health resources, and support groups for women to learn new skills and connect.

Youth Mental Health

Without our services provided, many economically-disadvantaged Nova Scotians would not have their individual rights and freedoms and the rights and freedoms of their children protected. It is important to ensure that Legal Aid clients have the right to a fair hearing in a court of law. Staff Lawyers assist thousands of clients every year and they spend a majority of their time in court.

Programming includes individual and group counselling, men"s intervention program, information and referrals to other social services programs. Offers extended care services to Indigenous youth and young adults who are aging out of foster care.

Youth Mental Health

NS Early Childhood Development Intervention Services (ECDIS) provide province-wide specialized services to families of young children between birth and school entry, who either have a biological risk for or a diagnosis of, developmental delay. Consultation, information, support and services designed to meet the individual needs of each child and family are delivered in the child’s home and may extend to community based programs. Services emphasize the enhancement of skills and abilities through planned interactions to promote child development and family capacity. NS Early Childhood Development Intervention Services are offered in 8 regions across the province within 28 locations.

Crisis Intervention & Drugs-Alcohol-Gambling Counselling

Provides individual and group therapy to adults with mental health concerns. The service focuses on setting treatment goals and developing coping skills.
