Provides crisis intervention services to community in crisis situations and to individuals affected by family violence and suicide Offers immediate on site or telephone assistance Dispatches call to police when deemed necessary Ensures victims receive support and assistance to secure their safety Arranges meeting family members at centre or agreed upon location to discuss possible crisis resolutionsAlso coordinates: Crisis plan to follow in response to suicide intervention, domestic violence intervention and any other form of crisis situations that may arise in community Information sessions and workshops on techniques for healing strategiesSupports can include but are not limited to: Debriefing and stabilization following crisis situation Advocacy on behalf of individuals and families dealing with various agencies Meal preparation, transportation, homemaking and other areas requiring support for families in crisis situations such as the suicide of a youth Information about/referrals to appropriate resources and services

Addiction Treatment

Provides a 9-bed residential treatment facility and support services for adolescents with alcohol and substance use difficulties combined with mental health or behavioural issues Offers a 90-day substance use treatment program with a focus on culturally relevant programs, counselling and therapy Operates an on site school with qualified teaching staff to allow residents of the Centre to continue with academic studies Coordinates cultural naming ceremonies, feasts, sweat lodges and circles through the supervision of traditional elders Promotes greater responsibility and involvement of the family members in the adolescent"s lifeProvides education and counselling focused on: Developing a balance between the emotional, spiritual, mental, physical and social aspects of an individual"s life An individual"s identity, belonging and sense of direction in life Developing a healthy lifestyle, free of alcohol and substance use Teaching relevant life skillsAftercare Program Provides a referral to another clinician, elder or service provider three weeks prior to discharge who will continue to provide service for 30 days after discharge Offers an aftercare support group once per week for as long as needed Offers continued access to cultural ceremoniesAlso provides: Designated child welfare beds at the treatment facility for First Nation"s communities requiring child placement

Provides services and support for individuals and families struggling with addiction issues Offers Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings when required Provides transportation to all meetings and workshops upon requestPrevention Provides public seminars/meetings to raise community awareness of alcohol, drug abuse, tobacco and gambling addictions Holds educational sessions in schools Coordinates cultural and spiritual eventsIntervention Facilitates recreational activities and social events Provides individual and group discussions Offers cultural and spiritual gatheringsAftercare provided for preventing reoccurrence: Counselling, sharing circles and support groups Regular phone calls and home visits Referrals to Band services, social services, detoxification and treatment centres and medical assistance
