Youth Addictions
Are you wanting to make a positive change and move past the hurt? Are you ready to learn how to better cope with your emotional pain that is affecting your life and relationships? Are you willing to slow down, pay attention and create a more meaningful and less stressed life? Are you open to tapping into your creative potential to explore yourself, recall your strengths, gain a different perspective and uncover new solutions? Then, using creative approaches to healing and growth and working with me could be the right fit for you.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and am currently doing further training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Hakomi. I approach my therapeutic work with clients through my lens as a seasoned helping professional; with years of experience in the humanitarian aid and education fields. This life experience is part of who I am. I learned to make sense of the link between doing meaningful work and burnout. I explored my attachment to my professional identity as an aid worker and healed from compassion fatigue. In trying to process my struggle with the comfort-discomfort push and pull in my humanitarian career, I experienced how slowing down and being present combined with using creative processes can help one open up, self-explore, grow and practice self-empathy.
I provide in-person and online counselling for individuals (adults and adolescents) and couples. In a safe and collaborative environment, I offer creative experiential approaches (drawing, collage and art making, music, photographs, Qigong, Hakomi) to enhance healing and growth and combine these with a variety of talk therapies that are tailored to your needs. I am committed to meeting you where you are at and helping you build upon your strengths. I use creative expression to help address the body/mind connection, enable emotional understanding, and strengthen self-awareness, self-compassion and resilience. You may be thinking you are not creative but every person has creative potential and you can create the life you want and need.
