Taryn is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and an active member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Taryn holds a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She completed her undergraduate honours degree in Psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In addition to her clinical practice, Taryn is actively engaged in several research initiatives involving emerging adulthood and life span adaptation.
Over the past decade, Taryn has worked in a variety of treatment settings supporting individuals living with various mental health challenges and/or addictions. Some of which have included inpatient treatment settings, distress and crisis centres, private practice, government-funded organizations, and community clinics. Taryn views therapy as a collaborative approach where both the client and therapist work together to resolve conflict and achieve personal goals. Taryn’s theoretical orientation can be described as an eclectic and integrative approach that combines aspects of various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, among several others. Taryn tailors therapy towards individual needs and works with her clients to foster feelings of safety while still challenging them to work through areas of difficulty. At this time, Taryn is only offering services virtually.

Youth Addictions
Assessment and treatment for adults and adolescents charged with sexual offences. Relapse prevention therapy for those who have been arrested, charged and convicted or those who are concerned about their own deviant sexual interests. Counselling for individuals who are concerned about a "sex addiction" problem. Family support regarding major mental illness (psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety), incest (parent-child; sibling-sibling), gender identity disorder, and other life stressors. Support for partners and family members of people charged with sexual offence charges. Work in consult with legal professionals, child protection agencies/schools. Support with sexual deviance, bereavement, terminal illness, job loss, infidelity, criminal activity & adolescent conflict.

Youth Addictions
Provides support and therapy for individuals with communication disorders related to Social Communication, Executive Function and Cognitive Communication, Communication issues related to PTSD, Acquired Brain Injury, Stroke, Trauma or Social Anxiety. Practice is focused on self empowering approaches that lead the client to accept responsibility for their role in the recovery process. Mindfulness based practice as it relates to communication with the self and others is a focus of therapy.
Home and or hospital and community visits are available by request.
Services may be covered by extended health benefits.
