New clients are assessed and referred to appropriate services by a centralized intake system. Services referred to may include Mental Health and Addiction Services, other services in the Saskatchewan Health Authority (Saskatoon Area), and/or services in the larger community.

counselling

Provides community support to adults (engages clients within the core community who may not engage in traditional recovery services). Offers a client centered approach, working with individuals where they are at, from a recovery and harm reduction perspective. Counsellors work closely with community agencies and partners to provide inclusive services to clients. Counsellors may provide: Assistance with food and shelter concerns Assistance with medical transportation Connections to supportive community based organizations Links to appropriate services within Saskatoon Health Region.

A selective program for individuals unable to enter into a formal detox setting. Offers a client centered approach, working with individuals where they are at, from a recovery and harm reduction perspective. Counsellors work closely with community agencies and partners to provide inclusive services to clients. Counsellors may provide: assistance with food and shelter concerns, assistance with medical transportation, connections to supportive community based organizations, and links to appropriate services within Saskatoon Health Region.

Brief Detox Unit: A 12-bed unit which provides a safe place to sleep for individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs, where they can be supervised until no longer intoxicated. An alternative to overnight incarceration or admission to emergency rooms for intoxicated people who do not require emergency care. Addiction counselling is available. Social Detox Unit: Following a stay in the Brief Detox Unit, clients may choose to attend the Social Detox Unit to enter a recovery-focused program. An inpatient unit where clients often begin or reconnect with their recovery process.

Methadone, a daily dispensed medication, is provided to individuals with opioid addiction and dependency to prevent withdrawal and craving for opioids. Used together with counselling for people unable to detoxify and recovery through conventional resources such as detox centres, treatment centres, 12-step meetings, etc. Treatment is a comprehensive and individualized process.

People with their own lived experience of mental health and/or addiction challenges, provide clients with extra support and understanding as they work towards a goal such as signing up for volunteer work and developing conversation skills.

Provides services to children from birth – 11 years of age and their caregivers, who are experiencing mental health concerns that may include (but not limited to): Aggressive/oppositional behavior Anxiety Attachment issues Attention difficulties Depression Impacts of abuse Non-intentional self-harm Parenting difficulties Social/emotional concerns Suicide ideation Trauma. Offers a range of assessments for children, including behavioural, family, psychological, social/emotional, and speech/language. Offers a range of therapeutic services, including behaviour management, family, group, individual, play, or pet therapy, and case management.

Provides counselling and therapy services to adults, both individually and through educational and therapeutic groups that address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood regulation, grief, anger, eating issues, and problem gambling.

Assists clients with recovery from substance use and dependency through individual or group counselling.

Provides services for people who would like to quit or reduce their tobacco consumption. Includes individual and group counselling, handouts and resources, education and cessation workshops, and community presentations.

Offers a structured program to assist individuals with early symptoms of psychosis. Includes case management, medical strategies, family intervention and education, addictions counselling, occupational therapy, group programs, psychological and neuro-cognitive assessments, and community education. Symptoms of early psychosis include social withdrawal,loss of interest, decline in self-care, depression, anxiety, suspiciousness, unusual thoughts or behaviours, changes in thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions (including delusions or hallucinations).
