Youth Addictions

I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents. I specialize in the treatment of substance use, eating disorders, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and relationships. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches and tailor my services to the unique needs of the individual.

Youth Addictions

The long-term housing program is a stepping stone towards true independence. Recognizing that youth who have experienced significant difficulties during childhood or adolescence often require more than just a roof over their head, this program provides participants with access to affordable housing and to the support and services they require to make the transition to independent living. Each tenant is assigned to a case manager who works with them to identify their needs and connect them with the appropriate services. Counsellors provide crisis intervention support, individual counselling, referrals to other community services and help setting and achieving personal goals, such as attending school or finding a job. Every building has an active Tenant Resource Team that works to provide opportunities for tenants to get involved with their peers in an environment that respects and welcomes diversity. Activities may include seasonal celebrations, sports, movie nights, community kitchens, cultural celebrations, drag shows, queer nights, community gardening and youth engagement. The long-term housing program has one-bedroom, two-bedroom and bachelor units available in buildings in the east, west and central Ottawa. All buildings are accessible via public transit. Rent is affordable, or geared to income (non-profit). Mental Health Counselling & Mental Health Treatment Services

Offers virtual and in-person confidential support from a mentor to individuals who are experiencing anorexia, bulimia, or other eating disorder. There is no limit to how long a person can receive support in the program. No medical referral or diagnosis is required.

Adult Addictions

A multi-practitioner clinic offering evidenced based psychotherapy for mental health and addictions concerns. Special Services During Pandemics (e.g. COVID/Corona), Disasters and Related Emergencies During this pandemic we offer specialized clinicians services virtually, therefore distance will no longer be a barrier to getting the services you need.

Youth Addictions

Provides counselling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples and groups. Enjoys working with children, youth and adults. In-person and telephone sessions available.

In person crisis services

Provides support to individuals and families who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless due to a crisis situation Addresses the immediate crisis and stabilizes the household Identifies areas of concern where an individual or family may require additional supports Serves as the entry point for all other servicesOffers the following services:Housing sustainability plan An assessment is completed to determine the current housing and financial status of the household and the short and long-term interventions and resources required to stabilize the householdAdvocacy Works with individuals, families and partner agencies to find alternate solutions to resolve conflicts that do not always involve the need for fundingImminent Housing acquisition and stabilization Targets individuals who have been released from the hospital, detoxification programs, or the justice system Provides immediate housing and stabilization tools, such as prescriptions, food, and household starter packsRent Arrears Can only be accessed once the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) has been exhausted Individuals and families can access on a sliding scale up to two months of rent arrearsCommunity Housing Guarantee Program Ensures landlords receive last months rent in order to provide an incentive to house individuals and families who are in difficult financial situations but require housingLandlord Liaison Liaises with public and private landlords to help individuals or families who are at risk of eviction either remain housed or find and secure housingVacancy List Responsible for producing a daily Vacancy List and distributing it to partners across the DistrictEnergy Fund Provides intervention prior to the disconnection of utilities in order to save money and avoid shelter stays and large deposit requirementsHousing success Facilitators Facilitators respond to crisis intervention requests and take part in crisis assessments where expertise is required to ensure the best support services are utilizedImmediate Stabilization Tool-Kit Provides households with items that ensure a house remains functional, such as appliances, prescriptions, and household starter packsHoarding Response Team Responds to suspected cases of hoarding, only when the local fire department has been contacted

Addiction Treatment

Offers a methadone/suboxone maintenance program for individuals struggling with opioid use disorder based on an intensive outpatient model, over a 12-24 month periodIncludes: Initial intake screening procedure A signed treatment contract Focused medical examination Appropriate lab tests Initial as well as ongoing supervised urinalysis Weekly group and individual therapy Regular medical follow-ups and supervision Regular daily methadone/Suboxone dosing Treatment of addiction related illness and/or diseases (such as Hepatitis C and HIV infection) After care program

Youth Addictions

Judy is the founder and director of Your Story Counselling, with extensive training and experience in multiple psychotherapy settings, She utilizes a strengths-focused postmodern systemic perspective, specifically drawing on the therapeutic models of Dialogic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Sex Therapy, IMTT (Image Transformation Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy), and Culturally-Informed Therapy Modalities. Judy is constantly learning new approaches and techniques to better serve the unique needs and goals of each and every one of her clients.
