Syl Apps has two ten bed, co-ed units for a maximum of 20 Secure Treatment beds. The Secure Treatment Program is a provincial resource and is mandated by the Child and Family Services Act. Youth are admitted through the Family Courts from all regions of the province. Youth who are in the Secure Treatment Program at SAYC may or may not be Young Offenders. All Secure Treatment residents do, however, have a diagnosed mental disorder and as a result have caused or attempted to cause serious bodily harm to themselves or someone else. The Secure Treatment Program is designated as a hospital to maintain clients under the Ontario Review Board - clients who have committed an offence but are not criminally responsible for their actions and/or are unfit to stand trial.

Community Mental Health Centers & Support Groups

This program offers one-on-one care management alongside safe, affordable and secure housing for older adults living with mental health and substance use * Together with a care manager, under a harm reduction framework, older adults work towards independent living and towards better health, social and economic outcomes.

Adult Addictions

Dr. Terra Seon, C. Psych. is a registered psychologist in Clinical, Counselling and Rehabilitation Psychology with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Her primary client groups include adults and couples. Dr. Seon has worked in various settings, including hospital, community based agencies and private practice for over 10 years. She has been an employee for the Scarborough Hospital’s and Markham Stouffville Hospital providing crisis assessments and psychotherapy, working with a wide range of psychological disorders. She has been a member of the psychological teams at the Whitby Mental Health Centre, and Markham Stouffville Family Life Centre. Dr. Seon has provided various psychotherapeutic services including: psychotherapy, counselling and psychological assessments for a wide range of presenting problems. Dr. Seon’s primary areas of practice include: depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, stress-related disorders, somatoform disorders, relationship difficulties, MVA related assessments and treatments
