Support Groups
An exercise program designed for anyone with the diagnosis of Parkinson"s or any other neurological disorder. This program includes three types of therapeutic exercise: muscle strengthening, balance training, and flexibility exercises. Exercises are graduated, starting with the simplest and advancing as appropriate. Participants are taught how to monitor their heart rates, and are encouraged to reach a moderate intensity during exercise classes. As a direct result, endurance capabilities of participants improve, resulting in improved health, energy and strength. Programs are taught by non-regulated health professionals such as a physiotherapy/ occupational therapy assistant or instructors certified in seniors fitness.Various class locations in Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Pelham, Port Colborne, Beamsville and St Catharines

Support Groups
Provides supportive care to children and teens aged 4-18 who are facing a life-threatening illness themselves, the life threatening illness of a loved one, or who have experienced the death of a loved one.Support is offered through age-appropriate activities and education that help the child grieve in a safe and healthy manner while giving them the tools needed for normal, healthy grieving. The program is centered on the unique needs of each child and the focus is to provide one-to-one and group support for children and teens in an environment where they can feel safe to share their feelings.Visits take place at the child"s school, in hospitals, homes or the child-friendly space at the VON office. There is no limit to the number of support sessions.

Support Groups
A bereavement community support group with no religious affiliation, for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Facilitated by a bereavement support facilitator, participants have an opportunity to talk about their loss, share feelings, and listen to others" stories. Six week session offered in fall and early spring each year (minimum of four people).

The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health is an urban health centre that: Provides quality, holistic, culturally-relevant health services to Inuit, Métis and First Nation communities of Ottawa; Engages in clinical, social, economic and cultural initiatives that promote the health of all Aboriginal people; Promotes community-building through education and advocacy; Serves as a centre of excellence for urban Aboriginal health.
