Support Groups

Offer different support groups and outreach initiatives:Chinese Diabetes Support Group - support provided in Mandarin and Cantonese by both peers and DECNET diabetes educators * facilitated by diabetes educators * third Monday of each month Diabetes in the Real World (DRW) - advocacy Group - group of community members who meet regularly to raise awareness about issues faced by people living with type 2 diabetes. * Program currently on hold English Diabetes Support Group - an informal environment in which group members can receive support from both peers and DECNET diabetes educators * facilitated by diabetes educators Mental Health & Diabetes Group - peer support and diabetes education group that focuses on mental health challenges and managing diabetes * facilitated by diabetes educators Outreach Programs/ Initiatives - outreach initiatives that work towards connecting with individuals who may experience barriers to health and health care access and are impacted by diabetes

Walk-in clinic for marginalized population, people who use drugs, homeless, sex workers * primary care * information and referrals to other community services * OHIP not required

Support Groups

Church offering various youth groups and programs throughout the year including: Overcomers Outreach: Christ-centered 12-Step group recovery program for people of all denominations who have gone or are going through hurt in their lives. Facilitated by lay persons who are going through their own recovery program youth group meets weekly, call to confirm location men"s group offering monthly breakfast and planned activities women"s group offers social and inspirational connections with other women and receive inspiration Vacation Bible School and weekly house league soccer program in summer.

Support Groups

Support group for people with disabilities discusses and addresses issues that may occur while integrating into the community

Mental Health Counselling & Mental Health Treatment Services

Offers transitional telephone support for mental health issues, preventing or de-escalating crisis, and relieving loneliness and isolation. Program is available for 3-6 months. Provides medication reminders, safety checks, and/or emotional support including coping skills and recovery assistance.
